I love you
that will never change
I know you will fly off one day
to create and bloom and bond anew
so I should hold you all the tighter still
now while you need me
now while you ask for me
now while you sob my name, whispering with open palms.
But I hesitate.
Then stoop in slow to hold you with tired arms
not out of love but perhaps obligation
breaking my own heart as I do.
Not loving myself for this resentful seed
taking root beneath my very heart.

It's nice to see someone so young have such a deep understanding of love–loving your children and loving yourself.
