snow song

I want to know the thousand words
for snow
the white orange glow of midnight storms
dancing through the trees
lilting faeries here
yet raging demons there
or something akin to shattered glass
in a scene of devestation
I want to know the thousand words
for snow
so that when you look at me with empty eyes
crackling with fever
I can sing you a lullaby
and cool you
with my voice
for snow
the white orange glow of midnight storms
dancing through the trees
lilting faeries here
yet raging demons there
or something akin to shattered glass
in a scene of devestation
I want to know the thousand words
for snow
so that when you look at me with empty eyes
crackling with fever
I can sing you a lullaby
and cool you
with my voice

Beautiful..
remind me to tell you of a story of one of mine children, snow, and fever sometime.
be well you two.

I just can't remember the name of that book–where I first read how many words Icelanders [I think] have for snow. Miss Erika……and a long title, a murder mystery? Did you read that too?
anyway, that aside; your poem is quite an amazing play of snow and storm; devastation and lullaby.
Thank you. I repeated it to myself a thousand times until I could put her down long enough to type two-handed. I’d love to hear your story– misery loves company, eh?
We are well– the house is warm, the pantry is stocked, the boys are asleep. My girl and I will curl up in the rocker and indulge my secret obsession: CSI. ;)
Meenakshi, thank you.
I remember the idea of a snow vocabulary in the movie “Smila’s Sense of Snow.” It was a murder mystery, perhaps it was a book before a movie?
Oh yes- that's the one! Smila. Not Erika!!!!
