on meeting

Posted on Feb 24th, 2008 by Amanda : heartfelt Amanda
when I held you in that happiest space
inside the bend of my arm
the rain slowed to beat with my heart
and I marvelled at your perfectness
a silver moon slipped through the clouds
and danced across your sleeping eyes
it was then I saw you not as three days old
but as a boy, grown
strong
boundless
glowing with the blessing of the moon
I sobbed at this un-asked vision
pulling you in
and wrapping myself around your eight pound warmth
to prove you were just newly born
and tiny still
now I see you, my boundless boy
my love
embodied vision
everyday

make sure ya add the tag fatherhood with this post too..It REALLY resonates, and now my 8 pound boy is 17, in his last few months of high school and soon to embark off to college…it is near too much for me fathom. I get overwhelmed. I can not imagine not having his daily presence.

That is a heavy thought. Mine's just 41/2 but I know next time I turn around he'll be off to greater things— without me. I'm so proud of him already. How will I contain that much more pride when he's 17?
I”m glad this spoke to you, dear friend. I write them for myself, to put those scraps of vision and memory down where they won't get lost to sleep deprivation and brain-cell-neglect. I will try to be more mindful of my readers ;-)

You are mindful…you are what a Mom is suppose to be..and way too rare. Just know you touched me with these words above.
